This puzzle piece I've never found It says so much, but not enough I'll take the chance of drawing in The small, but crucial, perfect fit Will you take this chance with me? There's not much I haven't seen If you take a stand, take one with me We will end so perfectly Take my hand Take a chance Take a look at this face The last mistake you will make This life is tearing us apart This mystery still goes unsolved I've found all the clues, all but one I've been searching for far too long This cracked spyglass won't tell me anymore You can't take this stand with me You've already seen what's inside of me If you take a chance, don't take me We will end so perfectly Take my hand Take a stand Take a look at this face The last mistake you will make This life is tearing us apart If I don't want to be saved Then there's not much you can say This fight is tearing me apart Take my hand Take a stand Take my hand Take a stand This life is overwhelming Will you surrender? No matter what I choose It won't get much better Show me my path (Don't hide it from me) How can I last (When you're running from me)? Take a look at this face The last mistake you will make This life is tearing us apart If I don't want to be saved Then there's not much you can say This fight is tearing me apart

Drained 06:10
There's a hole in this thing, I can feel it Feel it gasping and wheezing for the air it can't breathe in It's cruel of me to think I can fix it When there's nothing left in there to keep in Now this lifeless soul can continue on Same routine it's been for years and many years to come I'll build a wall, to hide it all, and show that I'm still strong Nothing can break this fortress I've become But I'm drained From head to toe I'm as dry as they come Nothing to contain Perhaps the gravity will bring me to the ground Maybe someday The wind will come and lead me to a better place I'll let these scavengers take what they want Until there's nothing left to take There's a cold draft flowing through me, I can feel it Numbing every single part of me I still believe in How can I give what I've still got When the person I am I've already forgot? No, I refuse to believe that same soul Is the same one that got himself stuck with that hole Because that same soul will just keep floating on Same routine it's been for years and many years to come He'll build a wall, to hide it all, and show that he's still strong Nothing can break the fortress he's become But he's drained From head to toe he's as dry as they come Nothing to contain Perhaps the gravity will bring him to ground Maybe someday The wind will come and lead him to a better place He'll let those scavengers take what they want Until there's nothing left to take I'm scarred up, I'm beat down But I keep coming back for more I'm wound up, I'm played with Then thrown back down to the floor Don't worry, I'll still be there When you decide you're bored No feelings here, just chilling gears That could just use a little warmth Now that lifeless toy can keep unwinding on Same routine it's been for years and many years to come It'll paint a coat, to hide its rust, and show that it still works Nothing can break the machine it's become But it's drained From gear to gear it's as dry as they come Nothing to contain Not even a paperweight can keep it to the ground Maybe someday A garbage truck will bring it to its rightful place I'll let those scavengers take what they want Until there's nothing left to take

Promises 06:10
I once looked up to you, imagining how it would be To be a man like you, would be a blessing to me You taught me how to hunt, to take everything I need I thought I had it all, you were everything to me Look at it, this heart of glass Can you feel it break? Feel it shatter Where we have been, is in the past Cause in the end, it doesn't matter All your sins were once a promise All your lies were once a promise What you did was once a promise I promise you, you never loved us Can you see how my trust is frayed? The same old line, everyday You swear to love, you swear to stay You claim that I'm the light of day But the shards still come crashing down The spyglass wasn't honest I'm left alone with a little less All because you promised I thought that I had found the one If I was the night, you were my sun The earth, revolving around us I was blind to see what you've become Look at it, this heart of glass Can you feel it break? Feel it shatter Where we have been, is in the past 'Cause in the end, it doesn't matter All your sins, you promised me All your lies, you promised me What you did, you promised me I promise you, you never loved me Can you see how my trust is frayed? The same old line, everyday You swear to love, you swear to stay You claim that I'm the light of day But the shards still come crashing down The spyglass wasn't honest I'm left alone with a little less All because you promised Now can you see that I've been betrayed? My heart's desire, has been outweighed I'm scared to love, in any way If I'm the night then I'll just stay that way 'Cause the shards still come crashing down Like the fortress, before it I'm left alone, beneath the ground All because you promised You Promised I came to you when no one else did I cared for you, I even took you in We promised for our hearts' sake That we would make this last You can see it, not too far away Use the spyglass, take it at last Look at it, this heart of glass Can you feel it break? Feel it shatter Where we have been, is in the past 'Cause in the end, it doesn't matter Can you see how my trust is frayed? The same old line, everyday You swear to love, you swear to stay You claim that I'm the light of day But the shards still come crashing down The spyglass wasn't honest I'm left alone with a little less All because you promised Now can you see that I've been betrayed? My heart's desire, has been outweighed I'm scared to love, in any way If I'm the night then I'll just stay that way 'Cause the shards still come crashing down Like the fortress, before it I'm left alone, beneath the ground All because you promised You Promised

Rebuild 06:04
Here I am again, in such a familiar place I'm standing here alone, with no one else to blame The uncertainty's driven me insane This shattered dream has left me wide awake The deal was made, and I'm who paid I made the same mistake again A chance is all I ask, for an unachievable dream Must I be blinded by my past, or will you show me how to see? So can I cast aside my troubles, into an endless sea of rocks? Can I skip them through the dust? As if they never weighed enough Rebuild this dream (This dream) Build to the skies, ‘til we can't reach Rebuild (Rebuild) with me (with me) Don't you deny, what I have seen There you are again, too far from my side I can't describe the pain, you inflict with those eyes Your integrity, was my demise With no retreat, I stood to fight "I must believe", I thought inside "Don't make the same mistake this time" Can I build on top of rubble? Will the dust ever fade away? Or is my dream just as hopeless? Even our fortress wasn't saved So can I push aside this gravel, as it breaks within my palms? How could something so fragile, ever be so strong? Rebuild this dream (this dream) Build to the skies, ‘til we can't reach Rebuild (Rebuild) with me (with me) Don't you deny what I have seen A fortress (rebuild) so high (this dream) Rebuild the walls, make it complete Hopeless (rebuild) but alive (with me) Rebuild the walls, restore this dream Your conscience separates us from what we can achieve Confront these obligations or you'll never learn to breathe The dust billowing in all these different spaces One more gust of wind and this fortress will cave in Rebuild this dream (this dream) Build to the skies, 'til we can't reach Rebuild (rebuild) with me (with me) Don't you deny what I have seen I worked (you knew) I climbed (I'd fall) Our fortress crumbled, at your feet You heard (I reached) me scream (for you) I took the fall (now take the leap)

This fire's fueled by coals of the past Her breath has blown on it at last The hole is gone, a draft, the boulders A burden lifted off my shoulders A promise was made for the sake of the flames So that neither would see darker days But as the fire died, a spark remained How could she turn away from her mistake? Tracing the steps before me I remember the darker days Replacing the prints behind me I remember what I can make If I was molded by the fire When it rains will I fade away? Will the wind decide to take me And turn me into something great? So do I rely on nature's calling Or will I burn forever more? 'Cause when a bitter soul needs healing It could just use a little warmth I used to beg for the pain to cease The heat was too intense for me At times when I was lost and weak I could feel the shadow reaching out for me But I've walked throughout the fire The sparks remind me of their eyes You see, the flame is what they desire With no care of what ignites Tracing the steps before me I remember the darker days Replacing the prints behind me I remember what I can make Rising to heights above you I want you to see what you've made Erasing the scars entirely Take a look at my face If I was molded by the fire When it rains will I fade away? Will the wind decide to take me And turn me into something great? So do I rely on nature's calling Or will I burn forever more? 'Cause when a bitter soul needs healing It could just use a little warmth I've burned into ashes And picked up the pieces My glass heart was shattered Now ask me how I'm breathing I was forged by the fire What I carry is its wake I was built within destruction Now there is nothing left to take

about

‘When There is Nothing Left to Take’ is a story of sorrow, as well as empowerment. Throughout the album, you will find a variety of feelings and emotions as these 6 songs were written about a single story, which developed over the course of a year. We’ve all faced tests and hardships, but these struggles are what help mold us into the individuals we become. As you listen, we hope you hear the story behind the music, the way it applies to every one of us, and the ways it might apply to you.

This album was recorded, produced, and mixed by the band's members and is the second full album released by The Intercedent. Over the 32 minute playtime and 6 tracks, the album tells a connected story with recurring themes, motifs, and melodies. The observant listener will find themselves coming back for more and discovering connections on every playthrough. The Intercedent draws from a number of genres, styles, and original ideas, and will continue to evolve as time progresses.
